Grains of Sand
Words and music by P. T. Butterfield © 2000
Verse 1
I’ve lived a carefree life, And I headed on down south
Not a penny to my name But I played this workin' game
Like grains of sand
Verse 2
I’ve seen your pretty face And I’ve kissed your velvet lips
I’ve seen your skin so clear But I’ve watched it disappear
Like grains of sand
Chorus
Sweet dreams and music Is all my heart can take
Sweet dreams and music My partner I have made
When you’re dancing a waltz With no one to share
With no one to hurt, any more And you’re all alone
Verse 3
As I look up, to the sky With my human eye
Each star has it’s life But a zillion million more
Like grains of sand
Verse 4
Well I thank you Ma and Pa Where ever you are ?
You taught me right from wrong But each child’s a different one Like grains of sand
Repeat Chorus:

SNIPER's DAY
Words and Music by P.T.Butterfield
Copyright WWW (Words With Wood ) . Music for PTB Productions © 2003
Intro: (Bottleneck acoustic guitar - thru' Honeytone© mini amp )
Well it's Sniper's Day (And) Somebody's gonna pay
Ain't nothin' personal You all understand
The seed verse:
Well his Daddy taught his son, And his son taught his son
How to be a man How to hold god damn gun
From the lessons that he learned And the passion in his words
Take an eye for an eye And wear your gun real high
Chorus:
Well it's Sniper's Day Sniper's Day
Yes it's Sniper's Day Somebody's gonna pay
Ain't nothin' personal You all understand
The growing verse:
At the age of seventeen He learned to be a man
He ran to the army So he could make a stand
They gave him a medal For his perfect marksmanship
It ain't no perfect world When "civy street" ain't your trip / When your skill ain't worth the trip
Chorus:
The planning verse:
Well they caught them both napping In a blue Chevrolet
With the rear boot converted So they could watch their prey
Power from a distance Weakness of the soul
Don't let them get too close Or look them in the eye
Final twist:
There's a twist to this story Before this song is sung
Who pulled the trigger The father or the son ?
Last Chorus:
Yes it's Snipper's Day Yes it's Snipper's day Yes it's Snipper's day Somebody's gonna pay
Yes it's Snipper's Day Yes it's Snipper's day Yes it's Snipper's day Somebody's gonna pay
Ain't nothin' personal You all understand
Out of sight, out of mind I'm gonna blow your mind

copyright 2000 words and music by Paul Butterfield
A "Beer Mat Production" , for "Just Songs"
Verse 1
Across this Northern Town, Most friends have stayed behind
It’s not easy to depart, If you don’t know what to find
In time, You’ll change your mind, But leave a bridge behind
But today, (but today) , Is a Younger world for you, Oh for you
Bridge
Your head says yes, But your heart says no
It’s a younger mind, Saying Red for Go !
Chorus
You see, Red For Go Whatever Your heart, Won’t Show
Your head says yes, But your heart says no
It's a younger mind saying Saying Red For Go , Saying Red For Go
Verse 2
With your Black and White Sedan, And a road map, but no plan
Another empty tank to fill, On what your life will bring
Hold a job, Keep within the law Wear a suit, For a few bucks more
It’s what we all do best, Sell ourselves for less
Repeat Bridge
Chorus ‘til fade
You see, Red For Go What Your, Love Won’t Show
Your head says yes, But your heart says no
It’s a younger mind, Saying Red for Go ! Saying Red for Go

JUST A FLIGHT RIDE AWAY
Paul Thomas Butterfield (for Just Songs) © 2002, 2014
Intro:
Just a flight ride away, I could be upon an island
Sailing nowhere, casting my troubles into the Sea
Verse 1:
Just a flight ride away, lies a country so green
Just a flight ride away, lies a home of my dreams
I’m just waiting to be safe in your arms
And I can’t go back, and I can’t turn around
Were freedom is just a flight ride away
Verse 2:
Just a flight ride away, I could be in a country
Were the people in power, have got blood on their hands
And this land, was once called paradise
And I can’t go back, and I can’t turn around
Where freedom, is just a flight ride away
Solo:
Verse 3:
Just a flight ride away, I could be upon an island
Sailing nowhere, casting my troubles into the Sea
I’m just waiting to be safe in your arms

"The Perfect Square (The cutting Room)" © 2003
Verse 1:
Is your life one long perfect take, A perfect cast with no mistakes ?
With no “direction” to make it last, It’s just a journal of my past
M8:
I can’t go back there, any more, Just keep on moving, with my foot to the floor
Chorus:
I’m looking for the Perfect Square, Were the edges cannot blur
Were the corners cannot hide, Your decisions that dent our pride
Frame after frame, a name behind a name, were every image , shall remain
This is “The Cutting Room”
Verse 2:
Welcome to the tunnel of my despair, There’s no more love, for us to share
You’re not the same girl I used to know, No one to blame, Is it time to let go ?
M8:
I can’t go back there, anymore, my life’s in pieces, on the floor
Chorus:
I’m looking for the Perfect Square, Were the edges cannot blur
Were the corners cannot hide, Your decisions that dent our pride
Frame after frame, a name behind a name, were every image , shall remain
Welcome, to “The Cutting Room”
Fade out:
You’re just a name, behind a name,
You’re just a name, behind a name,
that’s all we are, and shall remain
( Oh Welcome to “The Cutting Room” )

I'm Counting Snowflakes ( as they fall )
Words and Music by P.T.Butterfield
Copyright WWW(Words With Wood ) . Music
for PTB Productions © 2001
( Written for the Palestinians; Without a home, Without a land and Without Hope )
I would like to thank the following Jewish Terrorist Groups; Haganah, Irgon and Stern, and Jewish immigrants, for their devotion to murder, genocide and ethnic cleansing;
For without them, this song would not have been possible.
Written for the children of Palestine. "You don't have to be a radical to know what's wrong or the truth"
This song was written from several years of daily newspaper reports, of on the ground reporting from within Palestine from 1999 onwards
The use of Israeli soldiers using Palestinian children as target practice, when playing on open land that once held Palestinian farms and groves, now razed to the ground.
On this particular day, the funeral of a young girl was been reported ( 1st verse );
The use of American fitted and supplied assassination helicopters, to "hand out" Israeli justice by tracking mobile phones of so called suspects within their cars. ( if they know with pin point accuracy were they are, then why don't they arrest them and be seen to give fair justice? )
But this day, when the helicopter fired at the vehicle parked at junction, but only to be surrounded by innocent families in their vehicles, the shrapnel killed all those around the car.
The second verse is for the sheer desperation of these people held within two concentration camps; Gaza and West bank, to use suicide bombers tactics, knowing their property is been razed to the ground or being built on.
"One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist"
Intro and Outro
I’m counting snowflakes, as they fall ( I’m Children snowflakes, as they fall )
Each one special, no matter how small
They touch the ground, they touch your heart
Can you Stay for a day, or will you, melt away ( Killed by the bullet, from an Israeli gun)
1st Verse:
There’s a place in the sun , For the lemons to grow
That's Picked by the children , Who never grow old
And driven by dreams , On a tank full of hate
She had dust on her boots , And a flag, dressed for hope
Chorus:
Oh land of mine I love you so
Without a name To call my own
Oh land of mine I loved you so
I’ll wear your flag To bring me home
( Last time; Your flag dressed in blood, To bring me home )
2nd Verse:
Well there’s dust in the air , Between this land and the sea
And there’s a home for us , Still standing free
(And) There’s a hole in the sky , For the missiles to fly
And It’s a good day to live , And a good day, to die
Chorus:

Too strong to change Too weak to leave
Sailing on hope To keep afloat

Is this Love ? I’m not waving
Is this Love ? I’m not swimming
Is this Love ? I am drowning In this sea of love, Sea of love, Is This Love ?

Losing end Or can we make a new start ?
Sail away On a "Paper" boat
Will this love Ever sink or float ?

(I’ve got the ) Soap Blues
( A Line Dance Anthem )
Words and Music By P.T.Butterfield c 1999
Verse 1
I packed the wife and kids, for a holiday
Left little old England, for the US of A
Picked-Up the camper, headed for the Freeway
Destination "Dallas", on the way to L.A
Verse 2
It soon became clear, we had all the ‘mod-cons’
We had 52 channels, but nothing was on
The radio "was-a", countrified
But all I could think of, was, Yep , "Brookside"
Middle 8
Yes, I miss "The Street", and I miss "The Farm"
I wish I was home, with those "Neighbours" of mine
I’m feeling rather lonesome, and I miss the news
On the way to Las Vegas, and feeling the bl-u-u-ues
Chorus (where box = TV ) 8 lines
I’ve got the Soap Blues, Baby, The TV Blues
I’ve got the Soap Blues, Baby, The TV Blues
I need a change of scenery, I need it real bad,
These Soap Blues, Baby, are driving me mad
I’ve got the Soap Blues, Baby, The TV Blues
I’ve got the Soap Blues, Baby, The TV Blues
Just sit me down, in front of a screen
I’m watching a Soap ! It must be a dream ! <- sing with amazement in voice
Verse 3 – key change up – for tension !
After just two weeks, I was getting down
The Wife and Kids, started playing around
They said " We’ll meet you at the "Crossroads", at the end of "The Street"
Just two blocks down, on the "Eastend" of town
Verse 4
On a positive note, I was starting to hope,
There might be some time, to see a Soap,
There must be a station in the whole of U.S. of A
With an episode of "Home and Away"
Ending :-
It must be a dreammmmmmmm
(shouted in silence :- "Home at last, Switch on the box, love" )

I decided ( to fall in love)
Words and Music by Paul Thomas Butterfield
Copyright © 1998
V1:
I read your story, with some intrigue
Way out west over yonder, And looking for a lead
You've been resourceful, For a city man
Taking on the enemy, Well did you have a plan ?
M8:
From the moment we met, I couldn't give myself away
But these are the words, that I wanted to say
Chorus:
"I decided to fall in Love", The moment that my eyes met you
"I decided to fall in love", There was nothing that my heart could do
"I decided to fall in Love", to fall in love
V2:
You kept your secret, You hid all so well
With no happy ending, or no farewell
One more adventure, with your life on the line
There's no need to lie, When you have, danger in your eyes
