Drivin' nails ( acoustic version )

from "Greyhound Trippin' CD # 2" - FREE CD of DEMOs by Paul Thomas Butterfield

/

about

Inspired by the life style and true story of a young James Taylor in NYC.
( remember the "Flying Machine" on pieces on the ground)

After the Vietnam war, there was evidence that drugs could be made freely available on the streets, to "help" the Vietnam war veterans returning home from their heavy drug addiction they had got into.

lyrics

"Driving Nails"

Words and Music by P.T.Butterfield
PTB Productions © 2004 ( NOTES: SING IN FIRST PERSON)

V1:
/ ( Oh ) The city calls (out) to younger hearts / (And) I had my chance to make a start/
/ I Let the city (life) get into my veins / percolate up to my brain/
/ Drivin' nails into this frame / No holy man should bare this pain /
/ Find an Island, and buy ( a plot) some land/ / (gonna) Build me home, with these pair of hands/

V2:
/ Well the highway calls , to sing my blues / / (Help ) To kick my habits, and put on my shoes /
/Keep these pair of hands I can sing this song / or drive some nails into this frame /

/Gonna cast (Casting) my troubles out to ( onto) the sea / The past has gone …..

Ending of each verse:-
/like desperate stories of men at sea / Send your message, in a bottle to me/
/Pack your bags(Things) , And get off the floor /I'll drive on up / / I'll follow the (white) lines (right) to your door/

Chorus:
/ Drivin' nails , (well) I'm Drivin' nails, Drivin' nails into this frame
/Time to build (find) me a hideaway / Find an Island and sail away /
/ No holy man should bare this pain/

/Oh man of many parts / / Patch this boat to fix these holes / to keep afloat /

about

Paul Thomas Butterfield Bushey, UK

A big thank you to those who have purchased my music.

Likes; for what it's worth: Folk (wooden music), bluegrass, orchestration, pop and jazz. Dislikes more music than he likes, especially pretentious rap music, pushed by the mandatory dance video, trying to look Kool. Please no more dance videos, tattoos, mean looking posers and the jewelry. It will only look dated within months. . ... more
